At the age of 16, she entered a convent where she trained as a nurse, and was sent to India to look after the elderly (and knew Mother Teresa). Here, she felt it was the young, rather than the old, who needed more help and so she left her order and trained in midwifery. Later, in Paris, she was asked to nurse the Duke of Windsor just before he died - and many years later was introduced to Princess Diana and became her weekly confidante. In between, were bouts of serious illness, studying acupuncture in China - and being photographed by Snowdon. The Voice of Silence is the life story of a very unusual woman who has learned far more than most from all the remarkable things that have happened to her. It is also the author's thoughts on healing, spirituality and love - and how closely the three are intertwined. Full of feeling, poetic vision and insight, this book cannot fail to touch the heart of the reader, and inspire.

About the Author
Oonagh Shanley-Toffolo was brought up in Co Leitrim, Ireland, and later trained as a nurse in Dublin. During her two decades as a nun, she served the poor in both France and India. After leaving her order, she continued her nursing career in London and Paris. In 1981 she became one of the first Western women to learn acupuncture in China, following the end of the Cultural Revolution. She has known - and looked after - the two black sheep of the British royal family (Princess Diana and the Duke of Windsor), and also had to come to terms with long periods of serious illness herself. Along the way, she has learned much of great value to pass on to us all. She lives in London.

Linda Thompson was born in Washington, D. C. and grew up in the Maryland suburbs. Growing up near the Nation’s Capital and in the heart of the original thirteen colonies, she has a passion for all things historical. Her first love, at the age of five, was ballet. For the next thirteen plus years, she ate, slept, and breathed dance classes. Being raised on the East Coast, Linda loves the ocean! To her, there is no more soothing sound in the world than the kiss of the surf as it reaches the sand. Linda became an avid reader riding the bus to junior high—15 miles each way. Her love of all things Regency began during that time when she read her first Regency novel, The Scapegrace, by Sylvia Thorpe. At fourteen Linda was introduced to Gone with the Wind and Pride and Prejudice, which quickly became her favorite books. Linda reads historical novels, mysteries, and biographies almost exclusively. It takes an extremely talented author or a really good modern JAFF plot to bring Linda’s reading out of the past. When not engrossed in a good book, Linda loves to bake, cook, and scrapbook, though writing JAFF stories is rapidly moving to the top of the list. Her guilty pleasure is buying bunches of tulips for her table when they are in season. Linda currently makes her home in Denton, Texas. She has been married to her wonderful husband, Jim, for 27 years, and has had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom for her three children, Andrew (19), Megan (17), and Katie (15). It was thoughts of returning to work or finding another source of income to help pay for her children’s college educations that encouraged Linda to begin writing. “Writing is a dream come true!”

Very elementary.

I found myself skipping over pages as inane descriptions took up more and more of this book. Her basic storyline was different and exceptional. Too bad the prose didn't do it any justice. Definitely not worth the cost. Sorry.

As was written in some other reviews; Good plot but not very well written. It really does lack passion. I don't believe the characters what they say. In places, it seems like a dry description of events but told with (very) flowery vocabulary. Everyone speaks like a book.
It was interesting in places and sometimes it was a page turner. However, I never felt that satisfaction of a well written scene, dialogue. It lacked something. And I could do without the epilogue 'after sixty or so years'. Not my cuppa.
Also, a bit of editing wouldn't hurt. I found at least two places where a sentence or a paragraph was missing.
Overall, if it were on some fanfiction site, it would be ok. As a book, it is not enough:(

lackluster, not worth the money

Interesting plot but yes it lacks passion. The author is incapable of any descriptive writing, which makes the scenes stunted. This could have been written by a high schooler. I would never buy anything of this author again due to her lack of expressive storytelling. Not worth the money.

This is a geat little booklet for evangelistic outreach or placement in doctor's waiting rooms, hospitals, hotels or guest houses. At an affordable price, this NLT version is easy to read and understand, and even makes use of different font types to highlight important verses. A great product indeed!

So much Treasure!

I purchased these for homeless ministry. Although we use them for other outreach as well, I put them in our little gift bags which we hand out as we are driving by those standing in the middle of the roads with their cardboard signs. As we are driving by, we hand them one, with a big smile and an anointed "God bless you!" Inside our little gift bag is a "Gospel of John," a healthy snack, warm sox and "kisses" from Heaven. (Well, Hershey's). We trust Jesus to touch their hearts with His love, and He does!

The book is only 4 pages of text. The text is a very quick and very rough history of KG100. The balance of the book is filled with excellent photographs with very good captions.
If youre looking for a decent history of pathfinder bomber operations or their equipment, you will not find it with this book. The text is just a short, unsatisfying effort placed at the head of an excellent and seemingly well-captioned collection of photographs.
