The Glalour of Italian Fashion

This exhibit made a smashing hit in London and after having been a fan of Italian fashion, it is easy to see why this exhibit made it and why the Italians have made it to the top list of Buon Gusti in fashion, Chic, elegant are the well dressed Italian women, not to mention the vanity of men. It all makes sense after you read the book and see how the Italians made it as a major fashion center of the world.

The Business of Italian Fashion

It’s expected that any publication produced by the V&A will be thoroughly researched and presented in the most scholarly manner. This exhibition catalog will provide you with all of the background information of the history of Italian fashion from 1945. You will lean about the times, the mills, the craft, the advertising, and the people involved. I learned a lot even though there were so many names thrown out at me they all started to blur together. There are many essays about the business of fashion and the people who produced fabrics and their use. There are also short spotlights on a few of the lesser know designers, editors, materials, and fabric producers. While there is some recent photography of fashion, most of the photographs are of ad campaigns. We are not provided with an index of what was exhibited in the show. . I only wanted more glamour.

Good if you can already see auras

This book was recommended to me by a medium who said that starting out as a healer is a good way to develop mediumship. Much of the book didn't really apply to me, though, as at this point I don't see auras and so could not use the material. However, I kept the book just in case I develop the ability later on.

If you can see auras, though, I imagine this book will be very helpful. There are a lot of charts and diagrams that relate to auras and medical problems.

The most important thing that I did get was buried in the text near the end of the book: Having patience is a direct statement of faith in the Divine plan.

Mostly Guardian Angels Coupled With Saints

In her newest deck, angel therapist and clairvoyant Doreen Virtue presents 44 cards designed to help individuals to hear guidance from saints, angels, and Christian deities.

Like her previous decks, Saints & Angels Oracle Cards feature artwork culled from a variety of artists. As such, the thirteen artists contribute their own visions of particular saints, angels, and celestial images to this particular deck. Over half the cards (23) are attributed to a general "Guardian Angel", indicating a message from a personal angel. Seventeen cards feature popular Catholic saints including "St. Mother Theresa" who, while beatified, isn't technically a saint. Two Archangels make it into the deck-St. Raphael and St. Michael-and the remaining four cards are dedicated to the Catholic quadrinity: God, Mother Mary, Holy Spirit, and Christ.

A 110-page booklet accompanies the deck and the introduction is similar to that of other Virtue decks: rapping a knuckle on the deck to clear energies, shuffling, preparing for a reading, and interpreting a 3-card spread. In this guidebook, Doreen adds that you can read into the future by drawing 7 cards for every day of the upcoming week or 12 cards for every upcoming month of the year. Approximately a page and a half further elaborates on the message of each card.

I did a 3-card reading with this deck and the results were broad but decently accurate. I did another 3-card reading and it didn't seem to make much sense. Later, I did a 1-card reading about my 7-year old son. In both this reading and the first one, I got the St. Joan of Arc card. Perhaps the spirit realm wants me to remember that I'm a role model that inspires and influences others. However, I didn't find the reading comforting or particularly insightful. (Maybe I'm just tired of leading by default!) On the other hand, perhaps the vagueness is a result of my lack of affinity with saints and angels.

If you enjoy Doreen's other angel decks and have an affinity for saints, you'll most likely enjoy this deck. However, because of the general nature of both the Guardian Angels and the subject matters, I couldn't help but think of Cheryl Richardson's Self Care Cards-and how that deck would make a great alternative to the Saints & Angels Oracle Cards. My personal favorite is Doreen's Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards, but if you can't connect with goddesses (I didn't think *I* could until I tried that deck!) and are more comfortable with Christian deities, Catholic saints, and angels-this is a lovely oracle. If you're looking for a deck to use with children or want to tap into that magical, child-like part of yourself, take a peek at Doreen's Magical Unicorns Cards, as well.

By the way, if the gilt edging of the last two decks has spoiled you-the Magical Unicorns and Goddesses-you may be disappointed that this deck doesn't have it.

Wonderfully insightful

One afternoon, my husband and I decided to have lunch at the lovely little Green Goddess organic food cafe in Stowe, Vermont. Each table had a box of cards, and I walked over to the empty table across the room to a box of these Saints and Angels Cards.

While we waited for our food to be prepared, I had my husband randomly choose the 3-cards for his reading. I had no way of knowing what question was on his mind, but when I saw the cards that came up after he told me the question, I was stunned.

Uncannily accurate and directly connected to the question on his mind, as well as the future card was surprisingly accurate as well.
This required no stretch to make the meanings fit - they were direct answers to a direct question.
Mine was also insightful, and frankly a message I have received many times before.
I'm ordering my own set of Saints and Angels cards today!

Beautiful deck, heavy on angels

This deck seems to focus more on angels than saints. The artwork is peaceful and soothing. Many cards are useful like
optimism, wise decision, pray, sign from above, you found it, retreat and believe. The messages are uplifting. I found this deck to be accurate in readings.
It appears Doreen Virtue sells the same idea packaged many ways. What I mean is she has close to 12 decks published. Many have similar messages. I recommend you ask to see the cards to see if the artwork and way the information is presented appeals to you. Her decks seems to be clones of each other. I wonder if she is under contract to publish a certain amount of these by Hay House. Still her creativity is to be commended as she employs different artists for each deck.
Each card has additional information about the message and background history of the saint.
Some messages are : Wise decision, one of my favorite cards, very helpful to know if you did the right thing.
Retreat: take a step back,
Child: honor the child in you, have childlike faith, or a child related issue in your life is possible like birth or adoption, and
Reward: Take time to reward yourself, it nourishes you.
Vision: Trust what you see in your mind's eye and get your eyes checked.
Optimism: this new path is good for you and what you have been waiting for.
